gadgets

Music boxes do you remember them?
how you bought one and it played an old
song or had a ballerina dancing in it.
I believe you can still by them somewhere

I have not been in the blog sphere lately because
I have been in the sphere of gadgets
actually extremely en thralled in this technology
of a music box called an IPOD!!!

I had one before it was known as a mini
and my children had put all the music in it
for me. it had a short battery life.(that is apple
for you!) I received a new and improved one
as a gift for Christmas and though my kids have been my tutor
they tell me I must learn how to work these gadgets

was I up for the challenge? not really but the competitive side in me
now had something to prove especially to my children that I am capable
of putting my favorite music into this music box!

so for the past few days I have been sorting through our cd's
(boy, do we have a lot!!!) and using an " I tunes card" that allows
you to buy songs from the i tunes library. this new box of mine
i am told can hold up to 20,000 songs ( which I will never reach!)
I can put videos, photos, download pod casts etc.

I have searched through and complied lists of my favorites
from days of old like Tony Bennett, Dean Martin, old Blue eyes,
to Jazz/ Blues/ Country/Christian / Pop/ Rock/ Folk/ instrumental
and everything in between!!

In doing this I have felt like a zombie of sorts, loafing around
in baggy comfy sweats, no make-up, no brushing hair
It consumed me, I did get my songs in the music box !!
( it is really not that hard at all)

I decided I desperately needed some pampering a trip to
my hair dresser. she always makes me feel good when she
shampoos and cuts and puts highlights in my hair!

I am still learning this music box it just like learning the computer
(many things I still do not know) sometimes it's such a challenge to keep
up with! I ask you what ever happened to the days of a transistor radio.
or 8 track tape player, or better yet playing your old lp's on your stereo?
before CD'S and satellite radio? my teenagers have informed me the correct term
for Lp's is "vinyl"

I contemplated, if all this new technology is supposed to be less difficult then why
oh why does it seem more difficult, and sometimes scary? we lived without these
conveniences (cell phones, computers, Ipods) could we manage again with out them
now? Probably, but then we would not be able to blog without the computer,
call where ever we are without a cell phone, and yes even put your favorite music
in one little gadget of a music box called an IPOD!

for those of you who have one
what's in your Ipod?
