Excused

I served my jury duty and
the lord answered my prayers
I was with a lucky bunch and
after waiting all day long
we were excused!!!

did not even get called into the court room
I did learn a lot from two women who sat next to me
there were about 100 of us and we were told to be there
before 10:00 am. no one looked like they really wanted to
be there.
upon entering many of us brought bottled water because
it said beverages in plastic bottles were allowed what it failed
to say is that the seal must not be broken on the plastic beverage
bottle! so just like the airlines they dump open bottles into the trash!
scan your handbags and cell phones must be off.

where you check into the waiting room they scan your
summons and you sit and wait. we waited for an hour and half
and then were told we had to return at 1:30. we all learned lesson
brought back a unopened bottle of water!!!

we all returned and waited another hour then 50 names were
called they left then we got the good news we were EXCUSED!!
and had to form a line to get a paper for work.
what I learned watching and talking to these two ladies
was everyone that was there did not want to be there!
had to miss a day of work, some of them were just down right
mad about doing their civic duty!
and one lady next to me kept pointing this out.
it is our civic duty yet if you don't show they fine you up to $1,500.00
and arrest you. it is your civic duty yet they confiscate your bottled beverage
and so on!
I hope that once in the court room the judge finally excused her.
the other interesting thing I learned is that they use your driver's license
to summon you for jury duty because selecting the old way through your voting
well people stopped voting for that reason.

regardless of it all it was an interesting day of observation
and I am thankful for all that kept me in their thoughts and prayers
