cosmetics

This last Saturday
My daughter and I went
shopping for her she needed
new make up and skin care line
as she wanted to try something new
so we went into several cosmetic stores
they tried many different items and I gave her my opinion( which she let me know
plainly that my opinion was no help to her!)
after all the different cosmetic lines she tried we ended up
going to one store that specializes in just cosmetics and what I thought
would be a run in there and get what you want now that you tried them all
turned into a few more hours of decisions ( only to end up with the one
she started with!!!) maybe I am out of the loop but when did choosing the
right kind of cosmetics become such a chore! granted I wanted her to
have fun choosing and really get something that she liked but seriously I was not
planning on it being an all day thing. well at least I am grateful that after the 6 plus hours
it took her we had a pleasant dinner and she has been really happy with it!!!

Sunday she and I went to the movies ( she is my chick flick buddy!)we
saw Definitely Maybe it is such a cute movie!) in fact we decided if we can't find
another new one to see next Sunday we may go see this one again she liked it that much!
well all in all it was a great memory for me ( as much as I was grumpy about her taking forever
to decide I would not have traded that day for anything I am glad that she enjoys doing things with me.
she did let me know that one day soon we need to go cosmetic shopping for me
I am not sure I am quite ready for that yet!!!

Valentines... the day of love
people everywhere are out buying that special gift for their kids or significant other, there are those who
get engaged or even married. it like many other holidays has become so
commercial I admit there are times
I go out and buy something, but I also
find it fun to make valentine cards and
gifts for my little family. (My husband is not a big valentine day romantic he does give me a kiss and tells me he loves me but he does this everyday!)
anyway... every year on this day or as close to it I make my cards for the kids and my husband and
then I have always baked these special cookies for my kids. it has become something of a tradition which they totally expect every year so I made this batch and they were very joyful of the fact. (they love the homemade from scratch effect!)

I remember when I was a kid my mother would crochet these lovely little heart
pillows for my teachers


I'm not a person who can crochet ( I want to learn someday) but today got me thinking my little homemade goodness ritual I do for my kids is kind of the same as my moms it is done with love no matter how it turns out.

on this day I am also reminded of two of my utmost favorite sayings about love
the first being 1 Corinthian 13:4-7 Love is patient

Wind Chimes

I have certain things that I am fond
of collecting I won't list all of them
cause there are to many but I am
very fond of wind chimes.

The cow one was a gift to me hand made from my husbands great aunt
in Oklahoma, the small one behind it
was a parting favor from a wedding
on it are dragon flies.






In this photo I love old looking clay pots and found this treasure at a outdoor swap meet in southern Ca
where I bought two of them.

I also have a special angel one that I
keep in doors and a few others

I like hearing the music they make
when the wind blows. it some how gives me a heartfelt sound they sing

and what beautiful music it is to hear.

You Can Do Magic

Magic - Extraordinary power of influence, slight of hand

I have always been amazed by the talents of my children
(well young adults) they both have the talent of teaching
themselves whatever they want to learn and they have become quite accomplished at it.

5 years ago my son picked up the hobby of Magic
we have boughten many magic tricks from specialty
magic shops and plenty of decks of cards.
we have been a captive audience and also his
testing crew to test the tricks on! ( we were always amazed by them)
this past Saturday as a favor to one of my relatives for their job my son taught a small group of children at Barnes & Noble he was so good and had the group in awe after teaching the coin magic trick he also did a few card tricks for the kids. he was so patient and kind. it makes a mother proud!

my son has done magic shows for some local schools, and even a couple of birthday parties
and at an assisted living home. he can release himself out of a straight jacket, last year for a school project he portrayed Harry Houdini and did the straight jacket trick.( although amazing
no mom likes to see their son in a straight jacket!)

He also once did a magic show for the whole family he originally fell into this hobby as a eye and hand coordination exercise and well as I stated earlier he had a real natural knack for it
among his many talents he can act, play the guitar,design set, and he was the youngest student
from his Aikido class to earn his black belt he was 16 !

I know all these talents will always be apart of him and have somehow prepared himself
for whatever other hidden talents he has yet to find through his journey of self discovery

I can't wait to see what the magic will bring.
